There is again large-scale uncontrolled #WildFire in the Russian Far East. You get some scale for the smoke clouds from Sakhalin Island which is almost 1000 km long, on the right. Carbon emissions are large, especially when the soil also combusts. worldview.earthdata.nasa.gov?v=104.243296...

Researchers and protection agencies expected a dry season with more fires in Brazil’s Roraima state at the start of 2024, but the effects of an intense and prolonged El Niño have aggravated the situation, with 23% of the outbreaks being recorded in Indigenous areas!

For the past three years, Catalonia has seen the least amount of rain since 1914.
2021, 2022, and 2023 all had record low precipitation.
This horrible drought can be seen in the Sau Reservoir, which recently dried to 1 percent of capacity.
