My main feeling at Labour's victory ? Starmer's triumph ? Relief. A feeling of relief that the vicious adversarial aggressive country, that box that that we have been forced into, will start to return to decency, to understanding, to empathy, compassion, fellow feeling & humanity

The right-wing press have taken an awful beating. Don't underestimate how much their influence is on the wane, in spite of the huge sums they have spent on lies, culture wars & smears. They must now consider the scale of their failure. They aren't yet done, but could easily be, if they keep on.

Great speech from Starmer on the steps of number 10 with his wife. A decent man who will restore decency to the body politic in the UK. It will take a long time, but at last there is a glimmer of hope for the future. A day for hope about the future.

In the cold light of day, we need to understand that Starmer will need a lot of time to shovel up all the Tory shit, so some people need to damp down on their wilder expectations. The good stuff won't happen until the 2nd term. Keep the faith through the first one. It's day one.

I'll be clear. Starmer is absolutely 100% correct to come down hard on unrealistic expectations about rejoining the EU. It is a 20 year project as a minimum. He will not allow his first term be blighted by numpties who refuse to face up to this immutable truth. Bravo to him.
