People really need to give up the idea there's any connection between morality and art. Immoral people are capable of creating moving, empathetic art. Nothing about writing dark and violent art implies the artist is themselves dark and violent. Etc. There just isn't a connection.

There are OCEANS of anodyne family values art out there, but even the people it's intended to reassure ignore it because it's valueless dreck. They want something impossible: real, complex art uncritically reflecting their infantile, sadistic joke of a worldview.

I bristle so much when writers approach me with their TV/movie script that they couldn't get made, to switch it to a comic, usually as a hopeful stepping stone for adaptation... Like yeah, I'd love to bring together a team to labour over your movie pitch package 🙄

The Uncanny X-Men 141 cover is a classic, and it tracks so well to the story of The Iron Barge. There's a great inversion of the Wolverine/Kitty dynamic in our two leads Brook and Porter. Plus there's a literal group of fugitives from the Barge to go on all the posters in the background.
