Social movements folk would point out that threats or perceived threats are one of the biggest motivations for actions. It is bizzarre if polcomm does not study them.

It might be the worst I've ever seen it, at least on Twitter, and I was a misinformation researcher during the 2020 election. It's not only the misinfo, it's the firehose of unvetted video and claims, until you can't tell which way is up.
