They're always both essential questions. I definitely think it's plausible he can still win, but that's contigent him being able to convincingly demonstrate the debate was an outlier. I'm not confident it was.

Well, it's obvious even Kamala wouldn't be neat and tidy this late, and even that would be uncharted territory. With such inhererently unpredictable electoral consequences, it seems the test ought to be simpler; is this likely to significantly affect his ability to discharge his duties?

What I think is that Biden has been this way for quite a while now, and that it's frankly a little jarring to see people shocked that this is how he performed. I don't know what Fetterman's doctors thought of his prospects at the time; the point is that he DID improve.

Fetterman was recovering from a stroke at the time, and he's improved significantly since. There's no reason to think Biden's trajectory is going to turn a corner, here.
