Word of the Day: Neuroaesthetics
How art affects people’s psychology, biology & health.
Excited to hear how making art, singing & dancing can help with chronic pain, dementia & depression. You don’t have to be good at it to benefit. Love the idea of art without judgment. @scifri.bsky.social #Health

The illustrations were really fun, and I loved how the themes unfolded throughout the story. Looking forward to checking out What If You Wish. 🙂

Recently read Blob by @anneappert.bsky.social. A sweet and affirming picture book about a creature of indeterminate kind trying to figure out who they are and what they want, while facing social pressures and misnaming. Whimsical illustrations and a meaningful story.

Interesting episode of Somewhere on Earth looks at the impact of water-hungry data centres on local communities. @garethmitchell.bsky.social, Peter Guest and Daniela Dib discuss “extractivism” and the invisible cost of AI and cloud services.

Around 15 would be good to load in one go, with a clear "Thread Continues..." or "Load More" prompt.
For the thread composer itself, definitely more. I like that Bluesky can be used for microblogging by journalists, scientists, reviewers etc. Not everyone is going to visit multiple blogs.

Recently read children’s picture book Little Bird’s Day by Sally Morgan and Johnny Warrkatja Malibirr. A gentle story following a typical day on Country with Little Bird, from morning song to starry dreams. Warm and lyrical, the words and artwork are serenely spare.

I'd definitely appreciate a custom "Care" reaction. But not a "Hug". Many people don't like to be hugged.
I'd also like an "Oh no" reaction that could also work as "Wow" or "Surprise".
And one that works as "Acknowledge/Interesting/Hmm", for news you've seen, but isn't necessarily happy.

Another reason I'm enjoying Bluesky. Cute botanical illustrations of succulents.

Fact of the Day: On average, the human body emits about 100W of heat – similar to a household incandescent light bulb, back in the day.
Courtesy of an episode of The Climate Question, in which they also talk about climate change and food miles.
