I'll continue to try and stay off social media and avoid the news, but every friggin browser wants to show me another page from the goddamned YELLOW KING. I've never felt so angry at how corporate owned monomedia has taken over all our narratives. This is like a cancer of the immune system.

These computers were at use at Cal State, Northridge in 1979.
I can't ID them and am very curious.

I'm slowly developing a heuristic for whether or not to trust LLMs. I've found it pretty reliable and wanted to share it: Did the answer come from an LLM? Yes: You should fact-check the answer. No: You should still fact-check the answer. I hope you find this as helpful as I have.

Wow! $4.50 in 1988 was A LOT of cash for a young HPL fan. I could eat a whole meal at Waffle House for $5 and sometimes even had enough spare cash on me to leave a dollar tip, plus petrol was only $0.85/gallon. Not that I'm old enough to remember the 80s <cough><cough>.

Really been enjoying having the AC out during the hottest two weeks of 2024 so far.🤡 Today was 99F and they say it "felt like" 104. It felt like the sun was trying to murder us. Tried to take groceries home with 2 bags of ice in a cooler and everything still ended up floppy by the time we got home.

Looks like the refurb/used market for that tier isn't really well stocked yet. I imagine as the M3's roll out, the trade-ins and sell-offs will improve inventory and lower prices. For now I'm stuck with Vime's boots.

I mean if I assumed my editing time were worth merely $20/hr that would save me about $2000/yr in saved hours - but that's all imaginary. Anyway, this render is taking 15 mins+ on a 1st gen Mac M1. Not sure the choke point but gonna shut apps down so the audio software has more resources.

I spend most of the 8-10 mins it takes to render my podcast episodes thinking about how much time I'd save if I had a newer computer. On average I estimate it would be about two hours a week across my projects. I can easily mentally justify the spend - I just can't seem to produce the money.
