capitolhunters:
To everyone appalled by NYT's July 4 op-ed "Why I don't vote. And maybe you shouldn't either", note that 1) author Matthew Walther DID vote in both 2020 and 2022, and 2) he's an extremist Catholic graduate of Hillsdale College, part of the religious-right faction behind Jan 6.
lol💀

We have some who fly confederate flags outside of their rundown houses here. This is a little slice of Alabama north of the Mason Dixon.
It’s probably due to the racism in the area. Sad sad spot.

My paternal family is still in racist ass western Virginia. Some in-laws live in North Carolina. We visit a few times every year, and there is a difference in the last 8 years or so.
So, I do have experience with those who still embrace “the cause “.

It’s picking up here in Pennsylvania too. Saw my dentist this week and she said she’s had a lot of cancellations due to Covid.

We bought dog food, treats and toys for years from them. Used their pet wash station. Bought lots of gardening supplies, plants and other junk.
We have other choices.

I figured the new manager must have been a son of the south and wanted to make a statement.
I guess if the same happened today, TS would laugh at me and put up confederate flags.

I really thought I was cynical enough about the utter corruption of the right-wing bloc on SCOTUS, but it turns out I was still giving them too much respect.

This is horrible, I’m not completely surprised. Five years ago when they opened a store in my Pennsylvania suburb, the door chime played Dixie.
I complained to the company and they changed it to the national anthem. 🙄
Won’t be shopping there again.

They built one very close to me in the suburbs. This area has become quite diverse due to less expensive housing in my state.
Customers are half buying farming stuff and others buying pet food and birdseed.
This will be interesting too.

The first one in my area is on a main highway in city limits. Weird. A very diverse clientele who mostly buy pet supplies and garden equipment.
I wonder how this will play at that store.

Good. We only spent a few hundred dollars a year at TS, but I’ve spread the story to others who are appalled and say they’ll shop somewhere else too.

Same here in Pennsylvania. They’re also claiming religious discrimination because some Amish farmers want to sell unpasteurized milk.

I have an 87 year old mother who I could not leave behind. I’ve got barely enough energy to get through the day. Should have gone 40 years ago.

In normal times, the Supreme Court would've smacked down claims of presidential immunity almost immediately, but we're not in normal times, and there's a reason why the conservative majority of Federalist Society bagmen waited until the last possible moment to provide this insane ruling.

Biggest campaign story ever: using a private email server that could hold top secrets but doesn’t and could be breached but wasn’t.
Tiny story: stealing top secrets. Hiding them in a bathroom. Taking them to NJ. Showing them to foreigners. Meeting with foreign governments.
