Anyway season 1 of The Bear is its obvious peak, which explains the excitement the show got. There are high highs in season 2 with some problems, and season 3 is very aimless with issues much more glaring. I think a good way of describing it is the show's potential has been somewhat floundered

You are fully entitled to think that The Bear is a bad show, I just think it's more interesting to make a genuine argument for your perspective rather than make patronizing comments about how vindicated you feel for having an opinion you hold be agreed with like it's moral necessity.

I think part of it is that genuine criticism often takes a good amount of time and processing, which is a luxury not given to us all the time. Both in our day to day and in the online world. I think it's a luxury very much worth investing in, and I do wish we would be more patient with one another

You don't have to categorize your view into a neat and easy good/bad narrative! You're always entitled to that view if that's the true conclusion you come to, but I feel like many people are "shooting from the hip" when it comes to opinions, going more off emotion than actual analysis or thought.

There's a lot that goes into fully analyzing something, but one of the obvious first steps is understanding that sometimes some parts of a thing are good, others bad, and others more ambiguous. Not clearly falling into obvious delineations and forcing deeper explorations.

The more I learn what it takes to do criticism, to fully unpack a text, the more I realize how disinterested most people are in doing that work and holding the tension of a nuanced view. It's much easier to wrap up an opinion in a neat all-encompassing little bow by categorizing between good and bad

Now that I've finished season 3 of The Bear I definitely think it's the weakest season the show has had so far, although I still personally don't find it to have ever been a terrible show. I don't quite understand the retroactive dismissal of the project in its entirety.
