There’s a few living laureates including Gary Snyder. Ursula LE Guin was alive when they started on her. There’s one Delany novel already in the American SF series (Nova).

Heinlein, god bless him, lacks the literary merit that LoA goes for. Plus they’ve already put one of his novels (Double Star) in the American SF series.
I think a volume is far more likely to be one of the stars of the American new wave like Disch or Delany (since they’ve done Le Guin and Russ).

Not quite the question but I just finished Malarkoi by Alex Pheby. I loved both it and Mordew. 1. Have you read them? 2. Do you think there’s anything comparable or are they sui generis?

This is also how technical writing works except the ancient paper is a white paper necessary to rewrite the docs and typing it in again would make your head asplode.

Dadaism and its nihilism comes directly from the experience of millions slaughtered in the Great War, and the mechanical means to do so. Also v political: “Dadaist artists … maintained political affinities with radical politics on the left-wing and far-left politics.”

glad day fighting for its life, the revue under threat, science centre closed, no access to ontario place, impossible to go east-west in downtown toronto in a normal amount of time. well at least it’s also wildly unaffordable to live here 👍

Prepping for the kids birthday and I idly made a remark that I wished we were Jehovah’s Witnesses bc they don’t celebrate birthdays.
Then a pair of JWs showed up this morning at my door. (We almost never get solicitors.)

Of the plums thou didst buy to break thy fast
And laid in ice until the morrow
I presently have made repast,
I must confess with sorrow.
I beg of thee thy wrath to stay;
Forgive me for my boldness.
Good were they, and sweet were they,
And stung my teeth with coldness.

Gyring and gimbaling in the frumious wabe
The mome raths cannot see the borogoves;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
The jabberwock is loosed upon the earth.
The jaws that bite and claws that catch have come
And uffish idleness is our reply.
