The 'quite' is a qualification, not an amplification.

That's the bit that has always puzzled me. What's funny about pretend violence? Is it something like slapstick? A sort of substitute for humour, or joke for small boys?

That's part of it, that's peculiar. Jokes that express extreme violence, as if it were a norm. I find the violence in this commonly used 'meme' really bizarre. Would you really expect adults to behave like that? There are lots of other examples of oddly causally expressed violence and aggression.

I think it's quite funny that patriotic, nationalist, far-right fascisti like the song 'Born in the USA'. It's an expected, but still pleasant, irony that reveals not only their inability to read, or listen, or understand, but their susceptibility to revealing their idiocy & petty exceptionalism.

Ah, so there's a bright side! Let's hope, now they are in power, Labour can give up its obeisance to foreign powers (the US & Israel) and act in the interests of people living here.

The notion that Starmer knew nothing about the entrapment of Julian Assange, and the prevention of the Swedish Police interviewing him in London, is quite, quite mad. It was a major political case. The US was driving. If he didn't know, he was incompetent beyond words.

Mostly it reveals the futility of categorisation - if you expect reality to match your categories. Both ships of Theseus were Theseus' ships, the desire to force-fit one or the other to be the 'real' one is a category error.

American democracy?? Another oxymoron. A pony isn't a bad idea. Caligula made his horse a consul, and it seemed to be quite a good arrangement.

I suppose there'll be the camp that believe magnolia to be a genuine and usable colour for interiors, all on its own, and those that think it'd ruin a good wall if you knew there was magnolia lurking underneath... and the metaphor dereferenced consciousness will align to this.

Cause and effect are the other way around. Finding out that "unconscious neural processes & external factors" are behind our decisions, are our 'free will', are reasons illusionism exists.

Is Switzerland becoming the new Iceland? Stereotypically, if you're rich enough, the Swiss haven't been much bothered by what you do, but here, prosecuting what is, effectively, slavery, is an impressive change! Will bankers start leaving for somewhere safer?

They could also be indicators of those reluctant to secede. They might be hanging them out to dry after washing all their tea-towels / bath-mats. They might be showing off how pleased they are to have remembered where they are. Or they might be living in hope of theft, to usuage their shame.

I suppose that putting it outside tells everyone that you're afraid of forgetting where you are, whereas indoors your shame is visible only to visitors… Are flag-types clever enough to think of that, though?
