If Dems are going to switch it needs to be clean and bloodless. The idea of a "mini-primary" crammed into 5 weeks is madness and would look like madness

I really don't see it happening, though it would certainly be something if they just went big with it and shot down any confusion over if it could happen or not. That said, I think getting in the public's faces sooner than later is essential.

If there is one thing Democrats let go of bitterness from and are super normal about after, it’s contested primaries

The cleanest switch may be possible after the convention. Problem there is that you now have basically a little over 2 months to promote a new candidate and the switch itself may instill doubt in the party as a whole from some voters.

That ship sailed. There are a lot of primaries that have already come and gone.

I don’t think clean and bloodless would be possible with any political party at this point of the race. If you are going going to drop Biden, you shouldn’t do so expecting cleanliness. It’s going to be a mess, and one should accept that as a cost of doing so.

Have Biden resign & make Harris President. It’s the only way to retain the campaign war chest & retain the benefit of incumbency. And making a Black woman president would be a historic act to galvanize the base.

That's the anti-Kamala wing of the party with a few media talking heads.

Like literally there are two options - Biden, or Harris. And Biden cannot step down from the presidency, for a myriad of practical and cosmetic reasons.

Aside from the problem of the Heritage Foundation planning to sue to keep a replacement nominee off the ballot in several states, when was the last time you saw the Dems have a "clean and bloodless" nominating process outside of incumbency?
