If one is hesitant and needs even more reason: the new York Times is responsible for the greater portion of anti-trans narrative in the USA over the last decade.
They've been showing their hand for over a decade. They're just now being blatant enough that it will affect "normal" people's lives.

It's one of the reasons I canceled my subscription a few years ago. Their anti-trans bias is disgusting.

There are so many other things we can do, but this is one we can do together, and if we speak with a loud enough voice, the NYT, and the rest of the American news media, will hear us. (fin)

So there you have it. This is my challenge to you. Cancel your NYT subscription, and find other word games, cooking sites, and sports sites.

If you're hesitant, I understand. It's asking a lot. Sit with it, and think of how you're going to feel in November if you hear election news going to the Republican Party, which will likely begin at least a decade, if not a generation, of authoritarian single-party rule.

But we are now at a major inflection point in our country's history, and for at least a few months, I would suggest that playing a Wordle alternative is preferable to having our most vulnerable members of society bullied and jailed for the crime of not being born cis white men.

Listen, I know. A NYT subscription brings a bunch of genuinely good things. Their cooking section. Wordle. The Athletic.
I totally understand wanting to hold onto those creature comforts. You're not a bad person for hanging onto your NYT subscription just for those.

Whether this is intentional behavior by the NYT or a media feeding frenzy (I believe it's mainly the former), we have to communicate to the NYT that we will not accept this as a journalistic standard.
How do we do this? We cancel our subscriptions, and hurt their bottom lines.

But it's especially bad this year. Today the Times claimed that Trump had softened his stance on abortion (he hasn't) and that Joe Biden was seen often by a Parkinson's specialist (the specialist was in Washington to contribute to legislation to help Parkinson's patients, and rarely even saw Biden.)

The NYT is currently waging a war of disinformation against the Democratic Party. They've done it every election year. you'll remember the hype about Hillary's emails, and how that hype was not matched when it turned out almost the whole Trump cabinet used insecure email servers too.

There are many things we Americans can do to protect our democracy and keep Trump out of the White House.
Donating money to the right groups and left-wing politicians helps, of course, but you know what else will help?
Canceling your subscription to the New York Times.

The NYT Parkinson's "scoop" is even worse than it seems from the headline, bc buried in paragraph 11 the reporters *know* Dr. Connard met with someone other than Biden, and on March 28, 2024 the President's Public Schedule shows Biden was in NYC the whole day

bad luck for biden to run in an electoral cycle where "are you old" is the most important issue instead of in one of the cycles where email security procedures or accuracy of vietnam war medal citations was the most important issue in the country.

Yes, there’s lots of bad stuff, and you can’t trust everything. But I will take it any day of the week over the both-sides-ism and horse racing that is all that news outlets are offering.

Social media should be the worst possible place to get news and analysis. And yet, what I see here is orders of magnitude more accurate and insightful than the partisan trash coming out of traditional outlets.

The media does this every 4 years. It’s a hallowed ritual. Even before emails, it was swift boats and birth certificates. It shouldn’t have taken us this long to catch on.

I guess Bidens age doesn't matter that much to me cause I don't think US Presidents do nearly as much as the myth likes to tell. Reagan spent the back end of his run with Alzheimers, last guy played golf & shitposted for 4 years, idc if Bidens an ent who speaks once a yr, taking it over Project 2025
