Neither they nor I struggle as much financially. Since I moved to my new place, I have less disposable income, but life has proven that I'll always make it through. 4/4

because although my dad didn't make a lot of money, I didn't qualify for grants. I got a scholarship, but it wasn't for much. My parents' love and support got me through college. They even helped me financially when I loved to Boston permanently. Now I'm in a position where I can help them out. 3/

food stamps, but it was still a struggle. In elementary school my brothers and I got free lunch for a while, then reduced lunch. My parents got 3 kids through high school, although some family members thought at least 1 of us would drop out. They also took out loans so I could go to college 2/

My parents are heading back home today. I'm glad they got the chance to come visit me. It was really good to see them. We've come a long way. In the early '80s, my dad had to try to support a family of 5 on $200/week. We got food stamps for a while. Once he got a better job, we no longer needed 1/
