The problem isn’t those of us who’ve seen that Biden in no way has it in him to successfully conduct a high pressure campaign to beat Trump. The problem is with Biden arrogantly digging in instead of handing it off to Harris. Telling millions of Democrats to publicly commit to illusions is insane.

It’s incredibly dispiriting to me as a Democrat to see how many people in my party are arrogantly contemptuous of visible reality. Just straight up dishonest in resisting a necessary course correction & pretending a real problem is just something made up by the press. We’ve seen what we’ve seen!

I watched the debate hoping to see Biden quell doubts about him. It demoralized the fuck out of me right away (attaching screenshot of a text convo a friend started w/ me 15 min. in). If he can't regularly go out for unscripted interactions w/ press, how can he do a 4-month campaign? I'm 4 Harris.

I told my wife that she was a fascist for supporting Gore over Nader (which she hasn't let me forget). I now see what real fascism is & it's NOT a corporate centrist/liberal, however annoying & insufficiently effective they are.

I'm 68 & on the Dem Party far left for a long time. I voted Nader in '96 & voted & volunteered for his '00 campaign, as well as doing a friendly ride-along interview of him for the local alt-weekly. I deeply regret it. I was in CT so wasn't determinitive. But Bush's victory had awful consequences.

Biden is just untenable now, too risky. I'm more sanguine on Harris than that. I think there will be a tremendous upsurge in enthusiasm throughout the Democratic Party. (Particularly if she picks a good running mate like Chris Murphy, Andy Beshear, Jamie Raskin, J.B. Pritzker or someone.)
