Honestly still in shock that the most crooked American President in history said "I need immunity" and the GOP Supreme Court said "well, it's nowhere in the constitution, but sure, why not? Whats the worst that could happen?"

You literally are supporting it. You responded to a post criticizing the NYT for downplaying Trump's lies, racism & incoherence by justifying their decision to do so.
I note that you've been silent on the non-lie points. Do you also consider Trump's racism & mental challenges unworthy of coverage?

It is YOUR standard, you're the one posting it at me. Now that it's been made clear how dumb and dishonest it is you're trying to say "hey it's not me, it's just capitalism, so nobody should criticize it!"
Which is kind of a weird stance for a self-described "Unapologetic Marxist socialist."

Things I *am* confident of:
1) Whoever the Democrats nominate is better than Trump
2) Trump & the GOP are the most significant threat to America since the civil war
3) the news media is obscuring #2
So those are the kinds of things I'm focused on, fwiw.

I don't have a high degree of confidence in my assessment of who the Democratic Party should nominate this year, nor do I have a high degree of confidence in anyone else's assessment, which is part of why I'm staying out of that conversation.

This is not merely a glib and dumb standard, you are also inconsistently applying it. Joe Biden has been old for years, voters have expressed concern about Joe Biden being old for years.
Your insistence on holding Trump to a lower standard speaks volumes.

I could not disagree more strongly with the notion that the news media should not center Donald Trump's many flaws in its coverage of this campaign simply because the existence of those flaws has previously been reported.
Also "Biden is old" ain't exactly unplowed ground, if that's the standard.

The only thing I'm confident in predicting is this:
"Democrats should nominate someone who isn't Joe Biden"
<a short time later>
"No, no. Not like that!"

what’s really going to be wild is if we ditch a sitting president for the second time in history based on a fullbore media and social media freakout and then everyone goes back to claiming media narratives don’t matter in politics

Read a helpful quote today by Cory Doctorow: “Optimism is why the Titanic didn’t have enough lifeboats. Hope is why people kept swimming.”
I know I may not live long enough to eat the fruits of the trees I plant today, but I will plant them all the same in the hopes others may one day enjoy them.

You can have concerns about Biden's age, but still be absolutely appalled about editorial choices that convey the issue as more important than the Supreme Court offering a pre-emptive thumbs up to a criminal presidency

I have been saying since February that major media are 100% devoted to But Her Emails 2, but I didnt imagine it would get this bad. The day after SCOTUS stops the law applying to Trump, we have to scroll thru 4 fucking top stories on “Biden old” & an ad before getting to anything on SCOTUS decision
