The overlap of racism, poverty, and other precarities cause so much lateral violence. I was called a "fucking idiot" by a housing advocate in Toronto because I said we had a moral obligation to house climate refugees here. 🫠

This is my day job and I'm literally forcing myself into meetings with local governments to explain to them how their houses plans and climate adaptation/mitigation plans need to overlap.

I agree, and think most of us don't appreciate how much work is needed to make safe havens, especially in communities relatively unharmed by climate change, for vulnerable people displaced by climate catastrophe. Internationally, but also domestically.

The nice thing about organizing is that it is about more than just elections. E.g. mutual aid in all its forms, and campaigns to contact your electeds to bully, uh, persuade them. I point this out not to downplay elections; it's just that some people are looking for things to do besides voting.
