ugh (complimentary)
That's incredible.
This is like the opposite of the person who was embroidering sexy grotesques in a really loose but fun way.
I love the versatility of embroidery as a medium.

ahem.
I still want everything in my shopping cart.
I may have had a thing for a particular bluey-green tone when I was looking at most of the fabrics...
Sleeping on it.

If that doesn't work, I've also got pants based on Sonya Phillips' book The Act of Sewing which I'm tweaking, but which have given me at least one pair of comfy shorts for summer - something I haven't had in ages. (because I no longer have a costco membership and the ability to get men's cargos)

I do too, but I need to not buy everything I like because I don't have the room for it and also I am not a fast maker.

The in-progress pile includes a test re-make of my most beloved pants with IKEA canvas (I drew out the pattern via the old garment)... and I REALLY hope it works... because it's woodgrain print and I think it'll look supremely silly but also I just want more comfy pants (they're super wide leg)

So I'm excited to make things and my brain is beginning to cooperate meaningfully.
.. and I'm starting with the mending/in-progress pile (but no ironing on hot days).
oh. And I need to get some new patterns printed at the local print shop. (they have a plotter, it is wonderful but expensive)

I have a new iron and a pile of half-finished stuff that needs pressing before the next steps.
... and a much better sense of the kinds of garments that look good on me (and at least partly why. (the first dresses I made look like hospital gowns 🤣)

I spent a good chunk of last summer sewing things (by hand, I couldn't handle noise, and i'm still sewing by hand) but had to stop thanks to migraines returning with full vengeance in the fall... and then my iron grew mould so everything hit pause.

I realise it's atypical of me to post fabric so much (at least on bsky) but I really think I'm starting to crawl out of the brain mush... And my desire to sew is back again.
It's truly exciting.
It was starting in March, but then I got covid and just could not scrape together the energy.
Until now.

Nearly every time I'm at my absolute favorite place in Florida, I watch someone pull into the lot, pause for a minute, then drive off like they were underwhelmed by what they see. And I smile a little.

They’re gonna ban TikTok because the KPOP army made fun of his empty rally that got his internet guru fired. The right made one of the world’s richest men buy Twitter because we were bullying fascists and organizing. American journalism has become almost exclusively transcribing tweets.

Meta hollowed out their platforms and built a whole new one completely nerfed from the ground up to prevent posting from turning into online social movements

I do captioning for a living, & a big part of my job is cleaning up false starts & filler words. That has always been the norm at every media outlet.
Print media edits Trump so carefully that you would never know what he actually sounds like. Doing this to Biden is a 180 from decades of policy.

Those were some of the best accounts.
Just completely aware of what social media is for and doing fun things with it.
I also really enjoyed the account that set a keyboard under a birdfeeder so birds were typing all the posts.

I know... we're dealing with uhhhh... a less than ept journalist
But
Ever heard of Jason Kenney?
He courted anti-choice Catholics HARD.
And it paid off. His cabinet included multiple hardline Catholic conservatives.
And Take Back Alberta (Danielle Smith's puppetmasters) are rather godfearing, too.

Also, have you really gone on a walk if you don't post about it? 😋

Netflix and sewing?
Can I pull it off?
(probably not with subtitles)

This is marvelous. Class action alleges Walmart systematically puts one price on the shelf, and charges a little more at the cash register. Walmart claims consumers can see the prices actually charged, so no harm. CA7 rejects.

A very good point.
Pretty much anything would be groundbreaking for him.
Also, how likely is this to be a fawning "these guys are so smart" kind of article? UGH

Anyway, it is a ridiculously beautiful night. The kind of night that obligates sitting on a patio having beverages with friends...
only my brain hurts, so I shall be sitting in front of a fan at home, eating ice cream.

pretty stunning how the billionaire class(and yes that means the legacy media) have completely turned on Biden. They'd rather have a fascist dictatorship than pay taxes and a living wage to employees. Insane power grab in front of the cameras

I've done well, actually hit 5 years with this last one (and am trying to get back to it), but the bosses all get grumpy when my needs outweigh their expectations (despite laws here).

Wow! I'm glad you've got good doctors.
I wish I could take cannabis but it interacts badly with my meds.
Mostly i've had to learn how to handle the pain.
Over 20 years, i've taught myself to fall asleep when it gets bad...
(I've only been off work for 1.5)
