Call your rep today to encourage them to support AOC’s articles of impeachment. I will block anyone who tells me why they, personally, cannot and therefore why it’s pointless.

Quite a lot of countries use various PR systems. A review of how it has worked in terms of coalitions etc would be a good starting point. It can happen that the tail wags the dog, e.g. the religious parties in Israel.

I hate fireworks for scaring this dog so much. Trembling in my arms, waiting on the Benadryl to kick in. He is a being of pure love and does not deserve this for over a week every summer. If it was just one shitty night, I would hate it a lot less.

As a Scot who had to move overseas in the 80s to find work, I can't help sympathising with this sentiment. So very many people were thrown on the scrap heap in Thatcher's economy.

Rugby Union used to be a totally amateur sport, and the rule was rigidly enforced. No question that soccer is the big-money game. It's also the most international, and much of the funding for UK teams comes from overseas.

Yeah, there are county cricket teams and lots of local teams. But you make a fair point, soccer is the single most popular sport across the UK. It's comparable to baseball in the US, where I think (lived in Massachusetts) that American football and basketball are less watched until the play-offs.

My point is that football ("soccer") is not the only popular game in England.

Might we see the emergence of specialized appeals courts, along the lines of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, which handles patent cases?

I don’t think it merely “threatens” the republic. I think it marks the republic’s end. I hope I’m wrong, but short of finding the will to pack the court or Biden taking them up on some of the extreme powers they grant to presidents, I’m having trouble coming up with a more optimistic gloss on it.

No, in general, I do not want a gestural interface. I want a goddamn knob or button. Apple Design Disease has a place and it is on Apple products. In other places, you're just fucking perfectly good devices up and likely not IEEE or FDA compliant.

If you can’t window mount one for whatever reason, look into these types of floor units. They still require access to a window or vent for the hot air outlet, but are easy to install. Also portable so they can change rooms! Added bonus, by nature/design they dehumidify ~$200-300

You could probably describe an emulsion as a suspension of colloidal-sized liquid droplets. The size is important, because the particles/droplets must be small enough to remain in suspension without settling. But I would take issue with stating that emulsions and colloids are the same thing.

No. An emulsion is liquid drops suspended in a liquid medium. A colloid is very small *solid* particles in a liquid medium.

It was a local winery that had it at their stall. This is six or seven years ago now. They had simply dropped asparagus spears into bottles of their "less good" white wine and let it marinade.

Did they have the asparagus-flavoured wine this year? I used to live in central Mass, and my memory of Hadley is dominated by that wine, which I sampled. It tasted every bit as good as it sounds.

You're absolutely right. But the public wants and expects certainty from scientists. Tell people there's a 70% chance of something happening, and a frightening (to me) percentage will dismiss it because "even the scientists aren't sure".

I think there’s potentially been a hugely naive assumption that ‘knowing everything in the world’ is the key to intelligence. I’m no AI expert and I have no doubt that the people making these things are really clever, but all you get if you know the most ‘facts’ is the world’s biggest Pub Bore.
