Just the first of many, in all likelihood. NONE of these are profitable. And there is no path to profitability, not with content that can't be copyrighted.

Well put. AI is so computational heavy and so situational limited, there is no path to profit. AI has historically been handled as research projects by public institutions for good reason.

Plus, the results aren't even special enough to warrant spending any money on it as a hobby. Except for the grifters, there seems to be nothing but novelty value there for anyone that tried it.

Also, if you need to build a 5 terawatt power plant just to keep your stealing machine going, you're going to run into some broader profitability issues.

Also, good luck with line going up forever when your target audience are people trying to avoid paying artists for their work.

They named it after something said by Bob Ross, who specifically wanted everyone to paint and embrace the imperfection of something you make with your own hands? How absolute dare.

This is certain to happen to most of the freebies open to the public. Some will adopt paying models, and one or two will probably survive. But the real avenue to profitability for these sites will be contracting with movie studios, publishing companies and porn sites.

This like every other tech balloon that's gone up in the past five years; they want to bloat these start-ups with big, impressive adoption numbers, offload them on Meta or Alphabet, then cash out in the billions and retire at 35.

I figure people will eventually be as sick of seeing AI images as they are with NFTS and hopefully it’ll fade into obscurity once the novelty wears off.

They thought, "We need to advance the technology to a usable level and do it quick enough before the money runs out." Problem was that the tech was never going to be good enough. Legality would always be questionable. And, at the end of the day, no tech can understand your needs better than a human.
