True, but if he "dies peacefully in his sleep" at the White House, who's going to know any different? But don't worry, they're naming the labor camps after the hardest working President ever, Donald J Trump.

And once he's elected he becomes disposable. That's why his VP choice is so deeply concerning to me. If he wants to keep on living he'll have to make it Ivanka.

It feels even sadder than that. They're bored with Biden and he doesn't move papers, because there's nothing NEW about him. They thirst for either a new candidate they can dissect or the chaos that comes with Trump, with a dash of resentment that he won't give them the time of day for an interview.

But he CAN'T the paper says so PWAB: Look he's rounding people up Scholar: Ah, but they'll be let out by a judge, because the paper says so PWAB: The judges say the paper says he can do that Scholar: Because the paper says so!

I am sort of coming around on the idea that it would be more catharsis than chaos, but I would begrudge giving the NYT that victory.

Whenever someone says this, I think of this picture I took of my son a few years ago, and I think about what I can do to make his world better. The answer I usually land on involves also becoming the Joker and making plans that would get me in trouble if I typed them into Google

1947 was his final season as a player but he worked in Cleveland's front office afterwards. Greenberg never wanted to leave Detroit, and read his letter to the owner expressing that on the radio. His story is one of loyalty, sacrifice, and honor. Truly a legacy worth honoring.

In 1946 Hank led the AL in homers and RBIs, but a disagreement over salary led to the sale of his contract to the Pirates in 1947. Bing Crosby, a co-owner of the team, wrote a song that he performed with Groucho Marx to welcome him to Pittsburgh called "Goodbye Mr. baseball"

In October 1940 Hank Greenberg registered for the draft. The first in the American League to do so. He was initially given 4F due to "flat feet," but demanded to be reexamined and was cleared for regular activity. He played 19 games prior to reporting to Ft. Custer

Greenberg experienced a wrist injury and then bounced back to make several All Star teams. In the 1940 season, he moved from first base to left field to make room in the lineup for Rudy York. He earned a $10,000 bonus by the end of Spring Training and made the All Star team

The two games fell on the Jewish holidays Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. After discussing the situation with his rabbi, he decided he would play on Rosh Hashanah - he homered twice and the tigers beat the Red Sox 2-1. He did not play on Yom Kippur.

In 1933 he returned to the MLB and hit .301 with 87 RBIs... And was 3rd in the league in strikeouts. In 1934, he led the league in doubles and extra base hits while hitting .339. He also caused a stir, when late in the season he announced he would sit out two games in September.

But first, let's back up a bit. Greenberg was born in NYC in 1911 to Romanian Orthodox Jewish parents. He loved sports from an early age and excelled at several - his team won the city championship in high school. He preferred baseball.
