If they're like Swedish libraries, it's all free too. But then again Scandinavians pay rather more income tax than you do in the US.

I'd rather pay more income tax and live in a society that values libraries than pay less and live in a society that values only its guns. If only moving was feasible

The US is all about deficit spending instead of taxing

I would be ecstatic to pay more taxes if it went to this and not to the Pentagon.

They also don’t pay a big chunk of their income in health insurance premiums. I’d come out ahead.

Not as much more as you would think considering the difference in services supplied

And we are quite happy to pay taxes for things like libraries and universal healthcare. Well, most of us, there are always Those People... 🙄

We pay just as much tax as they do, just not in a check to the IRS on April 15. I’d rather write the check. I hate the stress and private expense of all the things that are on me as an individual (summer childcare, etc).

Not much more. And Scandinavians actually benefit from the taxes they pay. In the US, our tax money goes to support the military-industrial complex, to bail out banks, and to subsidize oil and gas companies while they enjoy record profits.

I moved from the US to Spain and file taxes in both. While income taxes are higher in Spain, health care costs so much lower that overall I save money by living in Spain. Property taxes are significantly lower and Spain too. Spain isn’t as great with services as Finland but it is better than the US.

I thiiiinkk for some of the stuff like 3D printing you have to pay a LITTLE (like, "The cost of the filament you used"), but that's it.

Not that much more, for most of us. I did the math once and we personally would have paid 2% more, but gotten healthcare, which eats like 20% of what we make. So.
