The whole system is built for manipulating the vote. He said it is undermining black kids to say they benefit from integration. But he doesn't say to give black schools the same resources. That's a classic gaslighting technique we see racists use. Claiming equality is belittling victims of racism.
Its a signal for the states that want to bring back Jim Crow and segregation to make the attempt. Doesn't matter if its crazy or not. It matters what they will be amenable to.
Something that really struck me after watching the OJ Simpson: Made in America docu recently-

Same sentiment from Clarence Thomas.
He’s a fascist. Nothing he says is married to any ideology but power for the sake of power. He’s like Mussolini, who was a socialist, before becoming Mussolini.

My understanding is that Scalia was kinda the same. He’d throw in some poorly conjugated Latin and everyone would gush over how smart he was, but the arguments fell apart if you bothered to check any fact whatsoever.
Not that it matters, given how the court is structured.
"Genius" for them means getting into a position of completely unchecked power where he can make America do anything he wants. "Smart" = "powerful" to fascists.
