I agree, but as you suggested, in the US system there is no cadre of senior party elders who can take action. In the USSR it did get so embarrassing they put in Gorbachev. Which we foreigners are all thinking of.

Said the same thing to my beloved last night. This dem panic plays right into Fox’s narrative, and it’s another own-goal by the Dems.

Yes, and if you need to vent, panic texts to reporters is not the way to handle it. Don't these people have a college friends/siblings/pickleball group text that would be a better place for the angst?

If Trump had gone out there, dropped a load in his pants, exclaimed "I shidded myself" and fainted before being taken out on a stretcher, the entire republican media machine would be talking about what a strong leader he was. The democrats love to set their hair on fire without data, though.

I genuinely don’t understand this frustration and contempt for the panic. There are real democratic voters who are terrified of a trump presidency who are reacting to Bidens performance, it’s not some manufactured media narrative. People are scared! It’s a human response from the actual electorate!

The fact that it’s elected officials who think panic texting reporters is their best way to influence other people in the party also points to some deeply problematic structural issues they also don’t seem interested in addressing.
