The Supreme Court's most radical move in the past two decades has been to assume power that was historically wielded by other branches and to place absurdly particular limits on the way those branches exercise the power left to them to the extent that the Court effectively takes that power, too
The move here is to eliminate the entire federal court system by reducing the funding of the whole thing to 0 and to reduce the funding of the Supreme Court to literally just the salary of the judges and nothing for anything else.
No More fed courts and no more clerks or staff for the SC.
It is important to note the reason the conservatives are doing this: they have control over the courts. If they had a vice grip on the legislature or the executive they wouldn't feel the need to do any of this.
Growing up I was always told that our system had checks and balances to keep one of the three branches of government from getting too powerful. Makes sense.
Now it feels like that there is no actual check or balance on the Supreme Court, and it adds checks or balances to the other two on a whim.
