Wait you mean in a city where it legitimately is faster to walk to most places most of the day they're complaining about more bikes??? Can we make this make sense like at least try to make any version of reality connected to the one we live in please.

As a NYC pedestrian, I’m now much more worried about getting hit by a bike whipping around a corner or going through a red light. No love for cars, but we can complain about multiple things.

Pro-car groups like to talk about the scary "bike lobby", but VAG itself is worth more than the entire western world's bicycle market.

Speaking as a pedestrian who has been hit by an e-Bike on the Queensboro bridge walkway, in the 'people' lane, the problem isn't ebikes on the streets it is that ebike riders as a whole seem to think that actual lanes, signs and regulation don't apply to them. eBikes using crosswalks worst example.

Seriously tho being buzzed as a ped reminds me of a wildlife study showing snowshoers disturbed wildlife more than snowmobiles because of the sneak up factor of the snowshoers. Easily solved by separate lanes for e-bikes & curtesy when passing (slow down, warn early, maybe e-bikes should emit noise)

I've said this before but if you step back and think about automobiles and all that entails, imagine if they were just invented today, there's absolutely no way we'd allow our current reality. Getting a license would be like getting a pilots license. Professional drivers for mass transit.

We've made it so that e-bikes are essential for the deliveries we demand and for those who can't afford other transit, but we also refuse to change our car centric infrastructure to accommodate them. Are the bikes bad?

I can barely drive a half mile in Austin without seeing a car driver do something absolutely insane. I might see a cyclist/e-cyclist do something crazy and dangerous once or twice a week.

I’ve found the e-bikes to be the most fun new thing I’ve noticed on my last few trips to NYC. I love how the delivery riders have customised them.

I can't say I didn't see this coming. I remember when pocket bikes were considered the scourge of the roads. Electric scooters went through it as well. They get just popular enough where they are commonplace, and folks start complaining.

this city just had its safest year ever for pedestrians and there were still more than 100 people mowed down and killed in the city’s streets last year. that’s a huge number of people. killed by cars, not e-bikes.

Here in QLD they've made illegal to have an e-scooter that can exceed 12kph or an e-bike that has any sort of electric motion other than pedal assist. Like, I can pedal a non electric bike or scooter faster than 12kph, hell I can roll it down a steep hill faster.

The e bikes drive on the sidewalks dangerously and blast through red traffic lights as if they don’t apply to them. One e bike crashed into me and my dog a year ago and she had to get $7000 in surgery. I’m not making that up. It’s not “pro-car” to say e bikes are dangerous
