1/ I'm agnostic as to whether Biden should withdraw from the race. It's a genuinely tough question IMO. But I have clarity on one thing: He should absolutely not step down as president. If Harris becomes President, the Vice Presidency is empty. Under the 25th Amendment ...

He absolutely should NOT withdraw from the race. It is NOT a genuinely tough question. It is an EASY question. Biden withdraws, Trump wins. PERIOD. Guaranteed. Biden is the ONLY Democrat who can be on the Wisconsin ballot. Possibly the Nevada ballot. & his withdrawal would be a legal NIGHTMARE.

Your argument is, Kamala Harris as president will be assassinated, and the Republicans will take over? That is really the argument?

Question: If he steps down and she finishes his term, can she still serve two terms on top of the end of his?

If he wants to win he should do what FDR did and join the international community in opposing genocide. Enabling the mass slaughter is a big red line for some voters, and unlike Biden's red lines they mean it. Bibi is now openly helping Trump. This is madness.

Seems like with their immunity ruling that the Supreme Court has said Biden could appoint a new VP on Harris's behalf to bypass the 25th amendment and it's an official act, so no one can do anything about it. (I know, I know, he's a Democrat so the rules are different according to the SC.)

Jesus Christ this is a horrific situation. You’ve convinced me he needs to ride it out though, unreservedly.

Sadly, I feel we've become victims of our own complacency. Once every few years, SOME of us show up & vote (others just can't be bothered). Then we assume that our job's done. It's NOT. It's our responsibility to ensure the people we elected are actually doing the jobs we elected them to DO. OUR JOB

And SCOTUS will be there to defend any legal challenges. It's very obvious they're doing a rope-a-dope and plenty of dopes are ready to help them.

Yeah I was under the impression only the Senate confirmed but I was wrong. Even more horrifying, we could still find ourselves in that situation under different circumstances. There's some small hope that the retiring GOP members wouldn't stand for such. Very small.

2/ ... confirming a new VP requires majority votes in the House and the Senate. If there is no VP, then Mike Johnson is next in line to the presidency. I think there's a very good argument that the House would not confirm anyone Harris nominated as VP.
