So I've picked up a virus (not that one) that's been doing the rounds. Fatigue, occasional nausea, occasional fever, generally feeling crap. It's not what I needed right now - but I'm doing my best to rest and not overthink things about my thesis progress.

Completely agree - I was more pointing out how X is basically a hellscape and that is not the fault of those on the receiving end. It was a positive thing but unfortunately the very amplification effect which made it good now makes it worse.

The irony is in the oldest text in the Bible (Job), God refers to himself as both male and female, father, mother, and neither. And it's not the only time. Sadly, too many years of patriarchal translators create internia. At least some of us are trying to change that.
