I don't have kids, but "under control" should mean "don't kick peoples seats on the plane," not "don't be a friendly and playful person." My god. "It's not my job" to respond in a friendly way to a child's friendly approach. No, it's not your job. It's your basic fucking humanity.
On my job I *initiate* animal noises at kiddies. Most parents are delighted. I even stop tantrums & meltdowns dead in their tracks. Do some kids freak out? Sure, & I stop immediately. The parents are more often the culprits. I feel sorry for anyone so divorced from their senses of play.
Why would you want that? These same people are probably the ones who homeschool because "school just turns them into robots for the man."
Kids are people learning how the world works. If you control them you're not letting them learn.
What a shitfull soul they are. I live by the rule that if you haven't made at least one child smile a day you aren't doing life correctly. I buy birthday Easter and Christmas presents for my neighbour's kids and grandkids.
Also the idea that keeping them “under control” means not letting them interact with other people. Kids are people! People are social! Socializing with people at different developmental levels than you, on both sides, is important
making funny noises and waving at toddlers to make them smile is like, the *lowest* effort you can put in to make someone else happy??
