Bruce Willis developed frontotemporal dementia and aphasia was among his earliest symptoms. Robin Williams had the same type and depression was his. Dementia doesn't look a single way

One of the things about dementia is that some types of dementia include as symptoms blindness to the changes. People with AD don't remember they forget things now. My dad doesn't have that, he's aware of every symptom.

Obviously Joe Biden is having cognitive changes! But how fast they will progress and what the next steps are is something he needs a full medical team to evaluate and still might not know, my dad doesn't.

Progressing lol I count on SwiftKey to change gibberish into words.
Alzheimer's has a specific progression pattern but that doesn't define dementia.

There's no one way dementia creeps up on you, because it can start in many different areas of the brain. My dad has balance issues. It's not starting or prrgrssibg like Alzheimer's, which my grandfather had.

He also is a lot higher functioning when he's not tired! When he is tired he can't hold a conversation. He no longer can use his smartphone. He still remembers people but sometimes forgets events.

There are people on here saying some bullshit about cognitive decline. My dad has cognittive decline, he's 6 years younger than Joe Biden. His first symptoms were difficulty with complex tasks and word finding.

That's not a distinction. Trump never had reality testing and cognitive decline can look like a lot of things.

We need more, but credit where due: both The Nation (June 2024 issue) and Boston Review have run a breakdown of the Project 2025 “Mandate for Leadership” document. Media Matters, too. Lots of good work going on digesting this.

Nothing is stopping every single Democratic elected official and apparatchik from taking the airwaves every single day to articulately and decisively repeat a set of cogent talking points about Trump (ie 45). Nothing. Dem PACs could be slamming him with ads now. Stop whining and do that.

I was surprised to find all my liberal friends want Biden to drop out because there's a lot of talk here like it's a) only people who don't like Biden (they all like him! And Kamala!) or b) it's only pundits (they are all pretty standard not terminally online Dems!)

Spent 4 hours at the dmv, got home and got a last minute demand to sign 5 pages of documents before end of business day, was overtired, was mean to my husband for no reason, time to go apologize.

Are the people who want Biden to step down the people who complained about Harris? I'm hearing a lot of people who voted for Harris in the primaries wanting her to be the candidate.

This is particularly important to understand because Trumpist authoritarianism is the descendent of Jim Crow far more than say Hitler or Pinochet or Orban, and it's going to look a lot more like 1930s Mississippi than 1930s Berlin.

It's super weird that car insurance isn't all computerized now. LIke why can't I enter my son's information and find out how much my rates are going to go up online? Why do I have to talk to my agent?

Congratulations to Algerians, who achieved independence 62 years ago today through peaceful protests, negotiations, and a UN-brokered peace deal with French settlers.
Just kidding, they merked French occupiers by any and all available means and earned their freedom with blood and lead.

Remember how the "retail theft crime wave" disappeared as soon as companies had to do their annual reports? That's because it's illegal to lie to shareholders.
