Thinking about the restaurant that said they had to close "due to a rise in crime" and the article written about them failed to disclose that they had lost a massive wage theft lawsuit
I mean, they did *technically* close due to crime
Yeah, and we are starting to see more coverage of violent retail robberies in the telly news, which means Nat is about to announce some recto-cranial inversion tough on crime bollocks.
Pretty sure there was a restaurant near me (a local place) that tried to publish the same excuse with help of the news media, but they were located in a restaurant-popular area, none of the others of whom were suffering, so it was pretty obviously like "really?"
There was a popular jazz club here that closed and all the Facebook comments were blaming democratic mayors and “open air drug markets” and homeless encampments etc. but it turns out they were plenty busy but hadn’t paid their employees months. Out of town strangers will make the excuse for them.
There was a bar near me that closed so the owners could take some time for themselves.
Neglected to tell anyone they were also getting fined for noise complaints.
We have a 'celebrity' couple locally who seem to open and close restaurants as soon as someone starts asking about wages... but the local newspaper is so stuck on supporting local businesses it won't carry stories about all the suppliers and staff they have screwed over 😡
