I've seen a couple of posts this evening that the exact wording required by this Louisiana law is that version you mention here--it's not even from any specific translation of the Bible! not sure if that's accurate, haven't had a chance to compare them myself, but, wow.

I think the marketing campaign is for sure a lasting legacy of the movie, but also the specific translation of the Hebrew Bible used for the film, which also got duplicated over and over.

In his thread, @slacktivistfred.bsky.social mentioned that the Eagles' version of the N Commandments was un-numbered, to try to duck the differing numbering standards adopted by various sects.

But this photo shows a numbered version of the 1950s granite monolith. Care to comment?
