My sophomore year, we found out that their newest B-52 on display was the actual plane that our Colonel flew for over a decade, so he got special permission to show us around inside, where no one was ever allowed to go. There's a bunch of little compartments the crew would stash personal belongings

To clarify, in high school, I was in Air Force Junior ROTC, and our instructors were a full-bird Colonel and a Chief Master Sergeant. We went on a field trip to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base very regularly, between drill team competitions and just educational trips.
