South Carolina has been fighting for accessible abortion long before the Dobbs decision, and we’re still here fighting now.
The need keeps increasing while the resources decrease, but we are scrappy and will continue to find ways to get South Carolinians (+ all Southerners) the care they deserve.

Right? I’m sure the Vietnam War and signing Civil Rights legislation, thereby losing the southern Dems had nothing to do with it. 🤷🏼♀️

Soaring global temperatures have accelerated the life cycles and expanded the ranges of the mosquitoes that carry dengue, helping spread the virus to roughly one in every 800 people on the planet in the past six months alone.

I’ve wished for some time now that the liberal justices would openly say how radical the conservatives are. Now that one has, I realize how frightening that is.

Why do people always jump up cheering for every white male narcissist who appears on their screens?! It’s infuriating. Remember the calls for Michael Avenatti for president? My head almost exploded.

I tend to have rose-colored glasses, but this was a disaster that even grading on a scale won’t fix. Will Americans forget by Nov.? Maybe. But there’s a ton at stake and we cannot risk a loss. Anyone who steps in can promise to continue Biden’s agenda and win back the people who think he’s too old.

The people I know aren’t talking about ditching him for not countering Trump’s arguments well enough. Or for stammering. Or for the dead look in his eyes. Or his gaping mouth. It’s the totality of all that plus getting a question on abortion (his strongest issue) and pivoting to immigration ffs. 🤦🏼♀️

Just a follow-up: it’s also true that the media should have been asking Trump and his team after his latest conviction if he plans to step down with the same intensity.

My WhatsApp was burning with friends and acquaintances in political groups during and after the debate, many of them wanting Biden to step down. So while the press might be amplifying those calls, it’s not like they’re creating something out of the thin blue air.

It is depressing but nothing new. It was known that he’d said “you can grab them by the pussy,” before getting elected in 2016. People who vote for him don’t care about morals or ethics or even decency.

If any of the Dems actually became the candidate and people got to know them those numbers could change.

I actually don’t find that interesting. The percentage of Americans who know every name on the list is probably shockingly low. So this is the “I want the Dem no matter what”-group, plus a bonus for the guy I’ve heard of (Biden), vs. I’m willing to vote for Trump.

Those 90 minutes have nothing to do with the past four years. No one can take away what he’s accomplished. But he only “deserves” four more years if he wins the election. And there’s a shit-ton at stake.

it feels like the whiteness of big political media spaces right now is having a big effect on how people are thinking about the debate. eg I have seen relatively little discussion of trump's "black jobs" comment, which immediately exploded on black twitter

How spiteful does one have to be to make a law like this? I just can’t stand so many Americans anymore. I’m willing to compromise and “get-along,” but then they do crap like this and my head explodes. There’s no basis for compromise without mutual respect.

Spill over from trans hatred might play a role. That’s gotten just insane.

Yeah, I agree, the calculation doesn’t work either way. I really have a hard time believing that the acceptance of gay marriage has dropped that much among Rs in two years. Even both things combined still seems unlikely. Now, if we were talking about trans-hatred, I might believe it.

Nobody should be surprised AIPAC went all in, nobody should deny that Bowman did not do the best at shoring up his own political security over the last two years, and nobody should deny Bowman took a brave step by not remaining silent about Palestine. All of it is true. We continue onward anyway.
