Some vet schools require it (see OSUs rabid cow incident). When I was training as a vet tech it was recommended but not required. I wanted the vaccine but couldn’t afford it (hurray American healthcare).

There are a few vaccines that used to be considered ‘farm dog only’ until we collectively realized that cities and suburbs have raccoons (and other wildlife) that will absolutely visit, poop near, and pick fights with resident pets. Your backyard is not a sealed room.

Ditto if the rescue is mostly puppies and young adult dogs ‘saved from puppy mills’. Puppy mills can make money selling to rescues, and it is often more than they make selling to pet stores or owners.

I’ve also read this is why French words tend to contain a lot of silent letters or generally excess letters. It was a good way of increasing the line count, whereas English writers wanted shorter words so they could fit the most words on each page.

It would be hilarious if the only action a Biden takes after being rendered immune to prosecution is to pressure (threaten) the current set of justices into retiring and demands the new set reverse the presidential immunity clause. I’m sure it’s not that easy. But it would be so tidy.

😳 We only got as far as having to put a fancier latch on the treat cabinet, so it couldn’t be bounced open. If I needed to install a combination lock I think I would give up. And my current assortment of critters are, ahem, less intellectually gifted.

The law firm that helped me get disability had a job-specialist testify at my hearing about exactly that - no (full time, living wage) jobs would work around my disability. There’s no reason that shouldn’t be available to everyone.

Most of my plants are in a modified ikea cabinet. Drilling holes to let out the cords from the grow lights was annoying but otherwise it wasn’t a tough project. Cats really enjoy challenging human ingenuity.

It’s the abusive working conditions that drive people away from wanting to work - if you can’t threaten people with starvation you’d have to improve conditions. We can’t possibly improve conditions because shareholder value or dignity or something.
