"Since Texas’ ban on abortion went into effect, infant deaths in the state increased by nearly 13%, according to a new analysis published on Monday in JAMA Pediatrics. In the rest of the country, infant mortality increased less than 2% over the same period."
as if pro-lifers find these numbers horrid...
because they absolutely do not.
state dems will have to steer funding from law enforcement to post-natal care for the right-wing to reconsider their draconian policies.
Not surprising at all but also why the fuck is infant mortality increasing anywhere at all? How are we fucking backsliding on protecting infants? We have truly fallen to depraved depths.
Texas new state song (everybody!): “To life, to life, l’chaim…”
Someone tell me that this is not yet again a case of valuing babies in utero more than after birth. (And of course, valuing mom least of all.) Horrific.
Goddamn. I mean, any increase in infant mortality is bad, but my God. And this is a state where the two largest metros have some of the best L&D and neonatal care in the country too.
"In the rest of the country, infant mortality increased less than 2% over the same period."
Someone needs to run the numbers on this, but my suspicion is that the 2% national increase is driven primarily by other states that have enacted abortion bans
Miscarriage care has also become much harder to get,
since it's technically not much different from abortion.
Bet maternal mortality has gone up as well.
