I’ve been puzzling over this one….it keyed to dytiscidae larvae (water beetle). It’s the right habitat and was deffo in attack mode. It’s abdomen is curled up and over. #freshwater #uknature #coleoptera

I’m currently collecting e🧬 samples on the Somerset levels. Previous surveys I used a drill powered pump to filter the water which tbh was sloooow. Have upgraded to a vacuum manifold and pleased to report it’s considerably less slooow 😂. Here’s the field lab.
