Pride BEGAN during a time of anti-sodomy laws. The first Pride was a riot against those laws. Pride is celebrated around the world in places where it is much more dangerous to be queer than here. Pride is not dependent on being ALLOWED to be who we are, itβs a promise that we WILL be no matter what

If we want the rewards of being edited, we must submit to the mortifying ordeal of sharing our drafts

I've never read The Artist's Way, but from what I've heard it seems to overlap philosophically with Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg, which is my sacred text

It's wild to me that people can do that! π€£ If I start editing before I'm done writing, my momentum completely dies and it takes ages to get going again. Glad you know what works for you!

Man, people on this site are really creative at coming up with ways to say "I agree with your point but I'd phrase it differently" and making it sound like an insult.

Please feel free to make a separate post with your own advice! I'm sharing what works for me, as someone who has published two books with a third coming out next year. I have no interest in changing my process at this time.

I'm sorry you felt that way! Maybe you can start again and just remind yourself that you're aiming for quantity, not quality?

The only two pieces of writing advice I consistently give are:
1. Write worse. Lower your standards as much as necessary to get the words on the page.
2. Finish writing before you start editing.
It doesn't work for everyone, but it's the only approach that has ever worked for me.

It is very exhausting to see people doing "ha ha look how dumb Chat GPT is it can't get basic questions right" right as we are getting constant stories about how much energy even basic queries for AI uses up.
Just don't use it! The bit isn't that funny!

THE Z WORD is getting a second printing! I am so so grateful to everyone who's bought, read, borrowed, listened to, recommended, and/or reviewed this book. Thank you for helping me make "disaster bisexual zombie apocalypse" happen. A round of Seabrooks for the house, on me!

I had an eighteen-second video call with my doctor today to confirm that my brain is the same amount of bad as usual. Obviously this has resulted in me getting nothing done for the last two hours.
