I feel like treating Biden’s quite obvious and visible cognitive decline as a ratfuck and not something 80% of Americans and many members of Congress agree upon and are concerned about is equally weird! Reasonable people can disagree about the underlying reality, but there is not escaping the q.
Republicans ran a fucking dude who had heavy onset alzheimers and won, and used the power to get us to where we are.
Can we not just agree that it doesn't actually matter? Can we for once decide that power and having power and using it is more important before we lose the fucking country
It is absolutely bizarre to treat Biden’s known & documented severe stutter symptoms as cognitive decline when we all got to see his opponent, Trump (remember him, the aspiring dictator?) sundowning on national television.
You know the whole West Wing story line where the President had MS and his wife had been helping him hide it. Biden is an 81 year old man and has senior moments at the least, but his admin and campaign have been pretending like none of it has been happening. If you notice is public appearances are
It’s a rat fuck promoted by America’s most evil newspaper, and it sounds especially insane to me in light of how Trump is incredibly obviously incapable of stringing a coherent thought together.
And my counter? Okay, I'm still voting for him. Worst comes to worst, he'll be surrounded by sane, competent advisors who AFTER the election can either convince him to stand down for Harris or whatever else needs to be done.
This is not it.
Concern? Sure. But why is this more of a concern than what SCOTUS just declared? Or the fact that Trump is openly calling for military tribunals and will, if elected, be able to do that with no checks?
You can't tell me it isn't, because literally there are way more articles about Biden.
I think many if not most of us thought “they always say this and then he winds up outperforming expectations” so it was genuinely jarring when he was so bad
Turns out that the presidency isn't necessarily much of a cognitive load. Good judgement and moral character seems to count more toward positive outcomes. Or as the equally senescent previous occupant proved, negative outcomes
Max today you’ve been describing Biden as “cooked” and “toast”, possibly among other things. Do you think saying that to your entire online audience is more likely to make things better, or worse?
I watched the debate and he was bad but clearly trying not to cough right from the first word. He’s given a ton of speeches and spoken to reporters and been on video talking to voters for 3 years now. I don’t know why one bad night is making everyone lose their minds.
"Quite obvious and visible cognitive decline" is a claim that doesn't seem to be consistent with the opinions of people who actually know what they're talking about, who seem to suggest that decision-making rather than public speaking ability is a better gauge:
Donald Trump has regressed to telegraphic speech patterns, cycles through rote repetition of "greatest hits" phrases, and is rarely coherent. Joe Biden doesn't have any of those features so wtf are you even talking about
The part that is crazy-making is folks pointed this issue out a long long time ago before it was an act of political suicide to do something about it, and dem leadership are only acting now that it is *a clear and obvious opposition ploy* to destabilize the party.
