People are still not paying close enough attention to the solar+storage energy revolution that's happening right now. Absolutely seismic shifts that are still *accelerating* every year

This reminds me of 2008-2010 with smartphones; the conventional "wisdom" is skeptical if they'll catch on while the demand/adoption curve is just starting to steepen.

We still need a lot more batteries and pumped storage hydro, but we are making progress.

Just today, California, Texas, and Arizona had their natgas and energy prices turn negative because they're producing more power than they could conceivably use.

The media really should end their blackout on climate change as a campaign issue. The stakes couldn’t be higher and the 2 presidential candidates have diametrically opposed policies.

Would love to install solar panels on my house some day. Love the idea of a backup battery storage to keep fridge running during power outages, but really leery of current battery systems. Worried about fire potential.

I would love to start seeing this stuff take over in SE Ohio where it's been basically nothing of boom and bust fossil fuel industries. They come in, ravage the area, and leave us sick and poor.

Those sodium batteries that are going into production *right now* are gonna be a game changer for grid scale storage.

Fascinating how the hydro power takes over such a large amount of the solar deficit in the evening. Pumped storage vs. just an increase in water release in the evenings?

the cold fusion clean energy revolution is here, turns out we were waaaayyy overthinking it and the actual breakthrough was "all fusion is cold if you just stand 150 million km away from the reactor, just use the naturally-occurring one up there in the sky you dummies"

I just heard about sodium-based batteries - sounds like they could work for large scale storage!

This chart means Solar capacity needs to improve by roughly 3x to 4x and battery capacity needs to improve by 20x and then the grid is fully Solar/Battery. That's not far!

Neighbor works for a power company. They offer employees with solar living in target areas free batteries with an agreement to allow it being used to handle loads. Employee gets constant power, company gets to increase its green energy percentage.
