#Mammals

The world’s most endangered wolf species got a big boost at a Missouri wildlife reserve, 4 little puppies born this spring.

The red wolf is the only large carnivore solely native to the United States. It’s smaller than a gray wolf, but larger than a coyote.

This #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is a fun one - we were flying aerial survey for emperors at Franklin Island & the pilot says, "hey there are birds up here" (at least 500m altitude). Looked out the window and... Adelie penguins?! They climbed all the way up there. WHAT ON EARTH.

Seems timely to post this one, from The Cougar Network's Puma Field Identification Guide. Trail camera photos can be incredibly misleading, especially since they are often in black and white and taken at night. It's hard to envision just how big cougars (aka mountain lions) really are! 🧪🌍🦊
