This #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD deserves a caption contest, exception channelling Drew Carey, "...where everything's made up and the points don't matter" so in other words you're not winning anything if you win the contest. other than bragging rights.

Furthermore how long do they think they can stay? You need visas, reasons to be there, justification/employment, and/or proof of return tickets for many places if you want to be there beyond the length of a tourist visa.

A timeline cleanse that's not a penguin, my internal monologue when I look at this picture of a humpback whale says, "HALLLOOO" in a British accent
Now it does for you, too, hahahahahaha

"With fear for our democracy, I dissent," is about as bedrock and terrifying and vital a statement as you're going to get. That's a line you spraypaint on walls, that you ink into your skin. And it's chilling that it is necessary to say at all.

You know how sometimes in war there’s the one side who has rules and thinks they know how war is fought but then they’re shocked, SHOCKED, when the other side runs out of the bushes and like, stabs their horses and shit? And that side wins? Yeah I think about that phenomenon a lot these days.

Today's #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is of an Adélie penguin parent fresh out of the ocean being mobbed by its STARVING* chicks
*while the chicks might think so, clearly they are not starving, they actually look quite well-fed, or at least very fluffy, and undoubtedly very obnoxious

The #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is of emperor penguins (can you tell I have literally thousands of pictures of them?), which can be about the size of a small Labrador retriever (in weight)

The #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD today is of some Adélie penguins! One of two “true” Antarctic penguins, these birds live on ice free land that just-so perfectly contains pebbles for nests. Which they steal from each other.

Today's #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is of some little blue penguins (in te reo, kororā) which are undeniably the CUTEST because they are... well I guess they are also aptly named because they are the littlest penguin species. Size of a bag of sugar. And although they are small, they are TOUGH.

And your #penguinpicoftheday #PPOTD is a particularly clean chinstrap penguin at Barrientos Island, striking a post for the camera like it's not completely out of breath from swimming probably dozens of km back home. Effortless beauty, amiright.

It's a BAY-BEH! Black-browed albatross that is.
What I learned taking this picture is that when learning how to use manual focus it helps to have a subject that sits perfectly still while I fiddle. Lots of swearing, quietly so as to not disturb the little one, was involved.
