to the extent that they are truly encouraging anyone to be a housewife, it’s poor and middle class women. those are the women who are asked to trade away their autonomy. for the rich, it’s mostly aesthetic.

It's a backlash to the idea that in order to be a feminist you have to burn your bra, get purple hair and pronouns, and be difficult. It's a bunch of people like the Supertramp song clamoring for someone to tell them who they are

Well, those women cannot afford to be housewives. (TBH no one can.) Generally, they make more than their male partners, overall, so it's more about uplifting men imho.

Kate Manne's Down Girl helpfully defines patriarchy as a power structure and misogyny as a social code that enforces patriarchy. So in this case even a very successful conservative woman performing the role of traditional housewife. Palin, for her many faults, at least had a "hockey mom" spin on it.

There's almost certainly a pitch for women to be engaged in patriarchy but they can't actually put it to words because "you get to rule in hell rather than serve in heaven" doesn't play well.
