I often think about how there was only a year separating GTA 3 from Vice City, and two separating VC from San Andreas. My daughter was 7 when GTA V dropped. Sheβll be 19 when GTA VI meets its expected launch date.

It's not that I don't expect the NYT to launder far right talking points, that's always been their thing and they doubled down on it under Trump. What frightens me is the *sloppiness* lately. They can barely be bothered to hide what they're doing anymore. They've decided it's publicly acceptable.

People who believe nothing you post has impact- have no idea how to use a platform & they may also have an interest in discouraging you from speaking out. Online activism matters. Look at what they did to Twitter. Twitter was previously one of the most important communication tools on the planet.

If our posts didn't matter, they wouldn't have wanted to make the internet a place where you can't decide whether a post was written by a bot, a troll or someone who actually knows what they are talking about. They have intentionally gone out of their way to try to sabotage online activism.

Crybully is actually a very useful term & the standard MO of the hard right (in which I include phobes). Harass/hate speech until the target responds, then run wailing that they're offended or feel threatened by the response.

I think a lot of conservative swings everywhere in the world can be explained by voters not knowing or caring about what their politicians will do for them, but rather how much they'll stick it to whatever boogyman exists in their minds. Everything is secondary to that or is blanked out.

It's part delusion born from mythology surrounding tradition, seriously a substantial amount of Tory voters vote because of some vague notion of solidarity with their culture. But it's often just a means to an end, the end being getting benefits from fascism or at least removing undesirables.
