X promoted a trending story on Thursday via its homepage with the headline:
“Iran Strikes Tel Aviv with Heavy Missiles”

one problem: the story was fake

even worse: the headline + story was created by a new feature powered by X’s own AI chatbot, Grok mashable.com/article/elon...

A former FBI informant accused of making false claims about President Biden and his son Hunter — which were widely publicized by Republicans — claimed to have been fed information by Russian intelligence, according to a court filing on Tuesday.

ChatGPT does not have “a memory.” It does not “remember” anything. OpenAI is just storing data about you and your engagement with its product. I’m begging the media to stop repeating tech companies’ misleading framings of their products.

"It pains me to say it, but Gov. Evers gets a huge win today,” Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos said, adding that under the new maps, “the Legislature will be up for grabs.” Democracy. Democracy got the huge win today. Also, textbook Kinsley gaffe.

So we just work around people with Covid then? Sharing the cafeteria and coming to work with runny noses and take the elevator with people who are immunocompromised? I guess we don’t do public health anymore, just popular health?

The results of my investigation are shocking. If data brokers can help extremists target misinformation to patients at Planned Parenthood, right-wing prosecutors in red states could use that same information to put women in jail. Protecting Americans' private health data has never been more urgent.

If there are people around you who believe “it won’t be *that* bad,” people who are annoyed by what they perceive as liberal “alarmism,” just read this out loud to them a few times and force them to actually reflect on what Miller is outlining here. It’s utterly terrifying.

The problem with universal Healthcare was never that it was radical or complicated. The issue has always been that rich people, mostly in the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, would not be able to make nearly as much money under that system.

What’s harder to believe? That universal healthcare is so radical and complicated that we’re the only country in the world without it. Or… The millions of dollars in insurance and pharma campaign donations each year to members of Congress are actually just bribes to block it.

Here is my most recent image of the Orion Nebula (first with a dedicated astro camera). It was my first test using NINA (which then quickly became my default capture software). It's only 6 x30 sec exposures in Bortle 7/8 skies. It's so bright!
