The best thing about British democracy is when the actual head of government has to stand in a leisure centre at 5 am beside a guy with a bin on his head to find out if he still has a job.

Absolute highlight of a great night/morning, second only to former PM/economy tanker Liz Truss failing to arrive on stage for ages before losing her seat and then fleeing from a BBC journalist. One for the ages.

We are finally watching Andor and I was already enjoying it a lot but we just finished episode 9 and it has become genuinely "claw at own face" great which I honestly did not think SW was capable of. A shocking yet very welcome development!!

Obsessed with this anecdote in American Prometheus. If J Robert Oppenheimer were around today he would be a science YouTuber, no question.

Started the new year watching Rick Astley and Rylen sing a highly homoerotic duet of You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). Bodes well I like to think!!

Socialised this evening and now enjoying the wind down period afterwards where I worry for hours that I Did It Wrong. Why this.

I am not someone who suffers from SAD and tbh I like a bit of gloomy weather esp at this time of year but I've got to be honest, sitting at my laptop with the lights on at 9am while outside the grey clouds gather AGAIN is really starting to get boring.

It's so funny that superhero movies aim to capture the fantasy of Incredible Extraordinary Power by doing massive forgettable setpieces of laser blasts when it's way more compelling to use zero special effects to be like What If You Could Kill Three Nazis With Your Mind

still find it absolutely wild how for X-Men: First Class they shot one of the most compelling, subtle superhero movie scenes ever and surrounded it with a movie i cannot remember anything about

I know this sounds dramatic but I feel like I am literally haunted by one particular lost friendship - I don't think about it most of the time but then out of the blue I will have a dream about reconnecting with this person and it fucks me up for days after. Do not like.

Feeling so miserable and I know a walk will help but also one of the things making me miserable is living in the city and knowing if I go for a walk it'll just be along rounds and through small, crowded parks and so getting out the door is so hard
