I know I've improved as a programmer over the course of my career, because now it takes me vastly less time to track down the source of the bugs I've introduced.

@hollygramazio.bsky.social I was reading an article in The Globe and Mail (national Canadian newspaper) about how frequent travellers relax on vacation, and one of the respondents mentioned your book in her “what do you pack that helps you be calm?” answer. 🙂

When I worked for big games companies, the best designers I worked with were the ones who understood that technical compromises were part of the design process, and trusted programmers to know what was possible and what was not. And in turn, that trust made us want to make the impossible possible.

It wouldn't be so bad if I only had to troubleshoot this once. But literally any time I update unity, the android sdk, or any of the 3rd party plugins we need, it completely breaks our device builds and it often takes days to fix it. 😅

Love to spend multiple days of my time troubleshooting android sdk/jdk/package manager installation problems so I can test my unity game on android. Make games, they said. It'll be fun, they said. 🙃

This is not an optimal strategy for minimizing my daily average score, but I used to play the same two starting words every day, and this is much more fun. 🙂

I have a very sophisticated* strategy for my first wordle guess each day: I look around whatever room I'm in to find 5-letter words on objects, until I find one that I like the feel of, and play that. *silly
