If you’re going to send a 5000 word newsletter to someone, at least make it mobile optimized otherwise a lot of people will simply dump it in the trash.

This is very good advice (and like most good advice, hard for most of us, including me! To follow).

He also apparently claimed there were 45,000 people at the rally (it was in the hundreds, some of whom can be seen yawning on tape) as well as confirming once again he will rule as a dictator. #USElections

President Biden signed the #ADVANCEAct into law yesterday. The law, aimed at speeding up the licensing process for new #NuclearReactors and cutting related fees, requires a report on simplifying the environmental review process. In other words big news. #nuclearenergy thehill.com/policy/energ...

This actually does not surprise me at all. Research shows that many college students lack comprehensive and standardized knowledge of #nuclearweapons. #ArmsControl

I thought NPR could have handled it better this morning. I still got the impression that they had softened their abortion stance, while it didn't take much looking to realize that wasn't the case.

To add some context, I noticed this morning that like Boeing, Fifth Third bank is paying a $20 million fine but "admits no wrong doing" in creating fake bank accounts, creating fake car insurance, and forcing customers to pay it. No employees were charged. Again. www.reuters.com/business/fin...

Apparently Trump is running for President. I wasn’t sure as he hasn’t been covered in the news for a couple of weeks now. But, as per usual, without context or with the batshit crazy things he’s been saying (except challenging Biden to a live golf match instead of going to the NATO conference).

You wouldn’t even know this was happening based on NPR’s coverage this evening (which is all about ‘disarray in the democrats’ for the first four stories, no mention of Trump, who must be not running anymore based on their coverage). Getting rather pissed off to be honest.

I quite liked this description. "Measuring your business by page views is like measuring the business performance of a Walmart by counting cars on the freeway nearby. Yes, the numbers are somewhat related, but you can't draw any conclusions." #analytics news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4090...

Interpol has listed Canada among the top 10 worst countries for #CarThefts out of 137 in its database - a “remarkable” feat, said a spokesperson, considering the country only began integrating their data with the international police organisation in February. www.bbc.com/news/article...

That's a fair point. Although as the article points out, they do less work than previous judges, and they will be having to do a lot more based on their new decisions. A bit like having a lawyer do surgery....

The main surprise here is that he’s already promoted extremists to #SCOTUS. So much more extreme do they have to be to ‘break the mold’? Still, nice that they finally noticed Trump, and hopefully this won’t be on page 20.

Spoke to three federal employees over the weekend from different departments (State, Education, Economics) and all are planning to resign if Trump wins. They said they didn't want to deal with inexperienced bosses, and they had read the Project 2025 plan and wanted nothing to do with it.

A basic four-stop #elevator costs about $158,000 in NYC, compared with about $36,000 in Switzerland. A six-stop model will set you back more than three times as much in Pennsylvania as in Belgium. Maintenance, repairs, and inspections all cost more in America too. www.nytimes.com/2024/07/08/o...

I don't think we can change them. I think they have to come to that conclusion themselves. In the meantime just recommend papers that act as newspapers, like Philly's Inquirer. We could always ask for AG Sulzberger to step down for the good of the country but I doubt that will happen.

Seems to be an awful lot of #media pressure trying to force Biden to resign again. I was hoping they would give up at this point. At least Fadel asks the right question, which is "are you hurting the party by keep going on about this?" Weak answers in response again.

This is incredible news out of France - the left really saved the center's bacon. It has always seemed that the true cordon sanitaire for the center and right in the amnesiac 21st century was not against the far right but the left.
