Most crossings from Gaza are to Israel. If Israel treats all ethnicities equally, they should let refugees cross into Israel and be interred temporarily. This could be done over a number of months so everyone can be screened and cared for. Then Israel could clear out Gaza, close the tunnels etc

I did, it's bonkers. That state laws that discriminate on ethnicity can't be discriminating on ethnicity because in other parts of the state it doesn't discriminate on ethnicity. Well an alternative is that it's politically expedient to offer rights to the rump of Arabs that weren't displaced in 48.

That's whataboutism. The state may or may not discriminate against other groups - and I assume you know the rationale for why orthodox Jews are exempt, which is quite different from Arabs. But still it does discriminate against Arabs in a way that is quite telling for the nature of the state
