The White Cat, fairy tales translated by Marie Catherine La Mothe, Countess d’Aulnoy in 1698. This version was published in 1847 but unfortunately the illustrator is identified only as “J.W.”

Also I have to mention, the moment I got to it, I immediately went “oh shit it’s that thing that xeni drew I thought I was going to fight some kinda sleep paralysis enemy thing and oh wait it’s charging right at me!”

Getting reference for it must’ve been a task in of itself. I had a hard time seeing most of the details but the broad strokes were still readily apparent as it was swinging wildly at me. Wasn’t expecting an orphan of kos in this game…

Helldived again for the first time in a while (for freedom), still great stuff. I really do not mind a "live service" game where you can just jump back in, and your gear isn't out of date because you didn't play every day for six months straight.

I think of this pretty often when thinking about what to eat. "Who could I buy from that would just make it waaaay better than I could with one-tenth the hassle for myself?"

I cheated by buying barbecue from a nice BBQ joint nearby and bringing it to dinner. If I've learned anything from working in comics, you can usually pay someone to do a part of the job better than you can.

This also extends to graphic design. But a lot of it isn't just space, but density. While a big open space exudes a lot of time, it can actually be processed fairly quickly by the reader, and unless it's extremely interesting, they move quicker through a big space than a densely detailed space.

I always found that dichotomy interesting. You'll want to use a big panel for a BIG moment, but by its nature a big single panel goes by quickly unless it's loaded with so much information that it might as well be many panels. You can undercut your big moment by letting the reader pass it too fast.

🚨emergency commissions🚨🗣️ i have a lot of money to rack up to cover 2 months rent & bills and my current work simply won't get me enough in time, so extra commissions are seriously a lifesaver!! setting up a log of commishes keeps me paid and busy and housed!! 💖

You will never see the whole thing, just bits of it and they clearly inform each other and there is SOME story there. But it is nearly impossible to sus out the deeper meanings behind everything. It just leaves you with delicious speculation for the rest of time.

Thinking about how the guys at FromSoftware and the Souls Office have a lore bible that will never ever come to light. That their stories probably do have a kinda correct and mostly consistent order of events and lore but when they give it to you in the games they just give the most enigmatic bits.

The biggest turning point in you life as an artist is when you shift gears from thinking “I can draw these things but not those things” to thinking “I can draw anything! Quality not guaranteed, but I can draw it”

Aaaand another thing! Most of it was done with tabs. Cardboard tabs! Minimal glue or even tape. Just some for holding a few cushions for the screen itself. It takes a lot of smart design to make a box that cradles a weird shaped object using just two flat pieces of cardboard and one molded piece.
